About

The Greenhouse Project is a Michigan based non-profit corporation.

Our goal is to provide local, all natural, healthy produce that is affordable and available to all income levels while having a positive impact on the earth.

Success

In progress

Currently we are selling plants, flowers and herbs at the local farmers markets this spring.  We will be selling flowers for Mothers' Day on Craigslist as the farmers markets are not yet open this year.  As the vegetables begin ripening, we will be bringing those, along with dried herbs, with us to the markets.

This year's goal is to raise enough money to file for tax-exempt status from the IRS.  The cost is $400 just to apply.

Next year, with the tax exempt status in tow, we hope to begin raising money for a permanent greenhouse.

By the following spring, we hope to have raised enough money to break ground on a geo-dome greenhouse big enough to supply year-round produce for the local communities of all income levels.

After we become fully operational, we intend to set up a free delivery service for the elderly and disabled to ensure everyone has access to the healthy food they deserve.

Five years down the road, we plan to have a fully functioning strawberry patch and orchard to add to the produce.  The greenhouse will be net-zero and fully sustainable by then.  It will be off-grid and self-contained.

Ten years from now, there will be a farm that will supply eggs, chicken, beef, and milk.

The Joy of Flowers

The Joy of Flowers

A behavioral research study conducted by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School (Boston), reveals that people feel more compassionate toward others, have less worry and anxiety, and feel less depressed when fresh-cut flowers are present in the home. The Great Movement

The Great Movement

Growing fruits and vegetables seems overwhelming to most people, but it’s actually much simpler than it sounds. (Plus you don’t have to trade in your suburban or urban lifestyle for a life in the sticks in the name of self-sufficiency or savings.) All you need is a few square feet of the great outdoors, a water source, and a little time. Your grandparents did it, and so can you.

Mom Said Eat Your Veggies

Mom Said Eat Your Veggies

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables every day is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Research continues to show that many essential nutrients in fresh produce may protect you from cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes, and they also give you more energy, help reduce weight gain and may even reduce the effects of aging.
